Street for Hina

Long time no "talk". As always, i'm spending more time on flickr then this or multiply. There's only so much time in the day to do these things. More important things to do anyways.

This past weekend, I was on the Big Island and I spotted this. Hina has her own street.

For intents and purposes...

...the title really doesn't have any meaning. I just felt like typing it out.

Look out! It's Black Friday!!! and It's coming straight for us!!!!

6:30pm 'ish on December 26, 2008 and no mo' lights. With the exception of Makakilo and Kapolei. Anyways, It was like a scene out of some random world disaster movie!

People were freaking out. People no longer drove, they walked instead. You could see nothing, you couldn't see your face it was so dark! Grown men were crying, calling the radio stations for assistance because they don't know what to do. Babies sleeping! Some called the radio station a few hours later just to warn people that all the lights were out. Kinda late, but OK.
The Aloha stadium caged thousands, people looting inside other peoples garbage cans, Kapolei and Makakilo seemed to be the only safe haven for food and cheerful song and light. And then they went out of power later on i think. It seems all was lost, for another 10 hours.



On the other hand, any of my neighbors who had bought illegal fireworks partied like it was already Dec 31. You saw a lot of those going up. I miss the black outs when the family lit all the candles and played some random game. Or if you didn't have candles you'd just do to someones house who did, or who had a generator and lives on Loina St, that would work too. Randomness is next to Awesomeness.
What's also awesome is I heard a congregation went along and had their meeting anyways. I'm not sure if they had a generator or bunch of candles and flashlights. But that is also next to awesomeness. I would've given a talk with the flashlight shining up my face, like camping. Thumbs up! HAHA no, i would just have someone spotlight that on me while I'm giving it. But lights came back on earlier the next morning and everything was back to normal.

From Militia to Tooth N Nail...

How can life go by? I guess after I read they had split, and the unexpectant deletion or as some call "syching" of my ipod, I have apparently forgotten about Copeland, the indie rock band that formed back in the early 2000's and is now on their fourth album release: "You Are My Sunshine". I'm not much of a critic or columnist, but I'm just going to say, usually I just buy songs off of iTunes, but this will be an exception.

I was heading towards the front door when I passed a haole (How-Lee), or caucasian couple. Out of all the things that could've popped out, those words managed to come out victorious. And it needed to be posted.

365. Brilliant!

This has got to be one of the simplest but ingenious ideas someone had come up with.

The object is simple: One photo everyday for one year.

I was thinking "I wish i can do that. Wait a sec, I can! And i must! 2009 is about two weeks away!"

So, starting next year, I'm going to make it a point to take one photo a day. Document it. Post it. And Upload it. I don't care how ridiculously boring some might be. Some descriptions will be longer, some shorter. I'll try to shoot the day's event into one shot. Or I'll just try and pick the best one. Or perhaps, something new in my life has happened and i must photog that. (Photo + blog = photog?). Whatever happens, I guess people who take photgraphy as course in college do this. So as a wanna be, I'm going to do it.

And to think, when it's done (next year), I can look through the enitre year in less than 10 minutes!
